Bathroom renovation in Skipton
Skipton is the western edge of our regular area. The villages along the Aire valley towards Gargrave are covered from the same run.
We work in Skipton the way we work everywhere. That is not modesty, it is the point: the order you build a bathroom in does not change with the postcode. What does change is what is under your floor, and we do not know that until we have looked.
The bathroom survey normally costs
£169
We cover it.
Before and after.
Two jobs we have delivered.

Taken over after the work had stalled.
What we found
- Left half stripped, substrate exposed
- No record of what had already been done
What we did
- Mapped the existing situation, repaired the substrate
- Pipework and wiring pressure tested before anything closed up
- Falls measured, not guessed
- Waterproof layer with sealing tape in every corner

Cloakroom, from dated to plain.
What we found
- White tiles with a patterned border
- Old pan and basin
- Exposed pipework
What we did
- Large light-format tiles
- Wall-hung black pan, black basin
- Wall-mounted tap and recesses set into the tiling

- oval mirror
- green herringbone tiles

- round mirror
- timber vanity unit
- freestanding bath

- lit oval mirror
- glass shower screen
- black vanity unit
The difference is never in the tiles.
A bathroom renovation is thirteen stages and you only ever see one of them. The rest decide whether it lasts for decades.
Why a low quote turns out expensive.
You supply the sanitaryware yourself or it runs through us. What you pay us for is the building and the craft.
If a quote sits well under what a bathroom actually costs, something has been left out. You just cannot see what, because it is behind the tiles. It surfaces when it fails, and then you pay for it a second time.
Want to know exactly what a full renovation covers, from strip-out to handover? That is on the complete bathroom renovation page.
What you find out at the end.
The last day says more about a firm than the first. There is nothing left to win by then, only something to finish.
- Connecting the sanitaryware and not testing it. Connect, done, gone.
- Being careless with things that are not theirs. And then you get to sort it out with the shop.
- Handing over and hoping it is fine, instead of walking the room with you.
- Taking everything up front, or demanding the balance before you have looked.
- A firm that wants it all up front has no reason left to come back.
How it works with us.
And that is how it should work.

Take stock first. Then a clear price.
We come out before anything goes on paper. A quote without looking is a guess, and you are the one who pays for it.

What customers say.
In their own words.
Good service, lovely people. Always reply quickly and very professional. Really pleased with the whole crew!
Kerry B.Straight away you could tell they knew what they were doing. Turned up when they said, worked carefully, and when extra bits came up they dealt with them and suggested fixes themselves rather than waiting to be asked. Very happy with both the bathroom and the cloakroom.
Ed W.We had the main bathroom and the downstairs loo done. From the first visit to the last day it was properly organised and someone always told us what was happening next. The whole thing went quicker than we expected and the finish is excellent. What I appreciated most was that when we changed our minds about the shower tray halfway through, nobody sighed at us, they just worked out how to do it. Small snags at the end were sorted without us having to chase. Would use them again without hesitating.

Questions everyone asks.
What does a bathroom cost?
It depends on what is behind your walls, which is the honest answer and the reason we look before quoting. The costs page shows how to build the figure up yourself so you can price any quote you are holding.
Where do I wash while the bathroom is out?
Most people use a cloakroom or a neighbour for the two to three weeks. We tell you at the survey exactly which days the water is off rather than leaving you to find out.
How do I know my bathroom was waterproofed properly?
You cannot see it once it is tiled, which is the problem. The self-checks on this page are the closest you get without opening anything up.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Two to three weeks. That is drying time, not slowness. Anyone promising it inside a week is compressing stage eight.
What guarantee do I get?
Five years on installation and fitting, one year on grouting and sealant, in writing. The market gives one to three years and sometimes nothing at all.
Is it better at my house or online?
At your house, every time. The whole value of the survey is somebody looking at the thing, and nobody can assess a substrate through a phone screen.
Am I committed to anything?
No. You get the report either way and you can take it to anyone. That is the point of it.
What if there is nothing wrong?
Then that is what the report says, and you have a written record that your room is sound. That is a perfectly good outcome.

Look first. Quote after.
A quote given without anyone looking is not a quote. It is a guess.
