Dark marble with a gold vein.

An en-suite that is almost entirely dark: charcoal marble effect with warm gold veining across the walls, and brushed copper fittings on top. The light comes from the mirror and the recesses, not from a ceiling spot that flattens everything.

The light sits behind the mirror

Above the basin hangs a round mirror lit from behind, so a ring of light falls on the dark wall. The tap is brushed copper, in the same warm tone as the vein in the tile.

In the shower is a recess lined with small gold-toned tiles and lit from inside. Against the dark marble effect it is the one warm surface in the room, and it sits exactly where the bottles need to go.

Matt anthracite against dark marble

The wall-hung WC is matt anthracite and sits against the same gold-veined marble effect, with a lit recess beside it. The copper shower set hangs behind a clear glass screen.

This bathroom was built the same way as every other one we hand over: thirteen stages from strip-out to handover, and most of them you never see again once it is finished.
