Travertine with a lit shelf.

Travertine effect on walls and floor, a lit shelf across the shower and copper fittings.

Shower in travertine effect with a long lit recess running the full width and brushed copper concealed valves

A lit shelf across the whole wall.

Travertine effect on the walls and the floor, and in the shower a lit recessed shelf that runs the full width instead of a single cubby in the corner. The fittings are brushed copper, and there is a tiled bench. A shower room in Claire's converted barn.

Shower with a brushed copper rain shower on a wall arm, a tiled built-in bench and a lit recess in the wall

The shelf runs wall to wall

Instead of one small recess, the lit shelf runs across the full width of the shower wall. That makes it a line of light and a shelf at the same time, and nothing has to be screwed to the wall.

A tiled bench in the shower

The bench is built in and finished in the same travertine effect, so it belongs to the room rather than standing in it. The rain shower hangs in brushed copper on a wall arm, and a long drain runs across the floor.

Copper by the WC, and a soft-edged mirror

Above the wall-hung WC is a lit shelf recess, with a brushed copper roll holder beside it. On the next wall hangs a mirror with a soft, rounded shape and a light behind it.

Two to three weeks, and we come and look first.

This bathroom was built the same way as every other one we hand over: thirteen stages from strip-out to handover, and most of them you never see again once it is finished. That is exactly where a bathroom that lasts parts company with one that starts leaking. The whole job takes two to three weeks, and we come round before anything goes on paper.

More work.

We come and look before a single tile comes off.

At your house or online, your choice. We go through all of it: the floor, the grout, the sealant, the falls, the waste. After that you know exactly what is going on and what will work in your room.

The bathroom survey normally costs
